Organizational History
Yesterday's Children, Inc., was organized as a non-profit Corporation in 1983. It received its exemption under the IRS Codes as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
The Board of Directors consists of volunteer members. They come from the New England region and meet monthly to conduct the business of the Corporation.
Yesterday's Children employs over 84 full and part time employees in the provision of our programs.
The Corporation encourages donations from the general public. There are always expenses necessary to good operations but are not covered by Mainecare or Medicaid.
Our main support comes from The State Maincare and Federal Medicaid programs. U.S.D.A. loans were used for purchase of facilities and recent renovations.
